[FS - QLD] 1962 Karmann Ghia - SOLD!
dvs_vw - October 19th, 2007 at 10:31 AM

Seller's Name - Michael

Suburb/Postcode – Toowong 4066

Item Description – 1962 Karmann Ghia

Condition – Great original condition, was stored for 30yrs, very complete and original car, original motor(not running) with 53k miles on the clock, is an original black/white roof/ red interior ghia which is rare and the remaining black paint on the dash and inside the hood looks like it was sprayed yesterday, has no structural rust, but has a hole or 2 in the base of the nose, easy fix! Pretty damn straight with only a few little marks, nicks and scratches. The side trims down the bottom aren't the best, a few bends, but you can get newies from CIP easily to replace. Make a great OG KG if you got it running, great project, or even a slightly ratty KG.

Item Cost - $10,000

This is something I do not want to sell, but I feel I have taken on too many cars lately and just don't have the space and would prefer the $$$ in my pocket. I realistically can't see myself getting around to doing this car anytime soon and feel that the 2 beetles which I have and love and which run and can be driven is probably enough VW love for me for now. I would most likely use half the coin from this to bag one of the bugs which I am dying to do. I am not desperate to sell this and am in no rush, so the price is pretty firm and only slightly negotiable. I might pull out of this at any time as it may hit me that this will be a big regret and I'll just find a way around the space issues, so if this ad is cancelled, sorry to those that may have been interested

massive shame, I'm really in 2 minds about this sale....but I thought I'd see what interest it drums up.

MISS VDUB - October 19th, 2007 at 05:28 PM

DON'T DO IT!!!

The fact you're already in 2 minds and thinking you will probably regret it means you will for sure!

DON'T DO IT!!!

Ash, I hear ya, its not a matter of wanting to sell, but I kinda need to, having said that, I can probably work my way around that need and keep it if I pull out of the sale. I'm just lacking space badly, and if I kept it, one of the VWs would have to live on the street, which I don't want to do, but may end up having to do. Unless I get the money I'm chasing, it won't be sold.....I kinda need the money, but am not desperate for it.....see what happens!

Have a few interested parties, but no firm offers yet, so not going anywhere just yet.

If I didnt have the same parking issues it would be sitting in my garage now.. good luck with the sale am sure someone will snap it up.

Similar story to my ghia. I have a '63 model (late '62 build) that had 49500 miles on it when I bought it about 6 years ago. It had sat under a house for 30 years as well. When the father died the mechanic son got it going again and I bought it. It now has 52000 miles and has been partially stripped for resto. However in the meantime we bought an old Queenslander and my better half would kill me if the car was finished before the house.

I thought about selling it but thought I'd never find another low mile ghia - didn't realise it had a twin! Hope it went to an enthusiast who'll look after it.

The house is getting done next year so hopefully I can start on 'Phoebe' after that.

Cheers, Angus

Cheers, Angus
