Hi
Lovely car.
Notch65s, your right about the wiper switch being on the column, the VW factory started next years production in August the previous year, so it was
most likely made in 71. I've seen 1303s/L bugs on overseas sights that were built in 1972, we didn't get them until 73. Strange that it has no vents
in the engine lid.
Steve
Yeah that looks noice! Another little idiosyncracy... no reversing lights
I WANT IT!!!
It would make a nice GL
sweet condition
Any words on the description of the motor and pickies
Cheers tom
Some pretty astute spotters hey?
The car is a 1971 private import. The steering wheel and column were changed to get the wipers off the dash and onto the column.
The engine lid was added to give a clean look without the vents. Motor is either a 1640 or 1725, (not sure). It has a Weber carb with Wolfsburg
manifold, (no choke).
Hi
Another thing I spotted, the generator is fitted 90 degrees out.
Steve
the engine lid may look cleaner but its seriously not good for the engine
theres a reason vw went 2 sets of vents in 70 when twin port started (71 in aus)
and theres also a reason in 72 they went 4 cos 2 werent enough
dog house fans need more air than single port thats why more decklid vents are needed
head and oil temps go up with out
Its a good job this is a Victorian Car and only done 1000klms since the rebuild with the Non vent deck lid as if in Qld and many more miles it would be cooking that engine with only 1300 capacity cooling
the S in 1302S means it was a 1600tp from the facotry
13 and 1600 TP had the same cooling system tho but yeah lack of use and victorias fine weather..... the only good things for it
