I'm embarking on some house renovations so I need to clear a couple of cars, and first up is this nice and original 1961 Karmann Ghia. Its been off
the road for about 5 years, and in that time, I've totally rebuilt the original 1200 engine for the car, including powdercoated tin, rings, new
bearings, heads reco'd, etc. The engine isn't in the car at present, and I'm selling it pretty much as is. The floor pans are good with no holes,
there is a couple of small holes in the sills, and the bottom of the decklid is rusty. Apart from that the rest of the body is very solid (good doors,
nose, rear wheel wells, bonnet etc. The front beam has been reco'd, and the gearbox was shifting in all gears when it was last driven. The interior
will need a new carpet, but everything is there including all seats and door cards. The locks have been rebuilt to open from the same key.
Its an original Ghia that has never had a radio, and has its original radio blank, and has not been altered from standard. New stainless door trims
and clips are included.
I'll put some pics up here with some chrome empi's I had on the car, which can be included for extra. Its currently sat on 356 replicas with good
tyres.
Just needs a new decklid, or repair doing to the existing one, a couple of small plates welding in, and the engine putting back in. The paintwork has
lost its shine and matted a bit.
Looking for $8500

I took a few more photos to show the condition of the car and the interior:-
Useable interior
Nice wheel with good trim ring and button. Dash top will need replacing
Carpets are not perfect but definately useable.
Front floor is solid, as is the header channel area
Under the seat is good. A flat section has been welded in behind the front seats, but its all solid.
Great bonnet - no rust at all. Thats the factory underseal
Hinge area of bonnet is good
Good nose, no sign of damage
Behind the nose
Bottom of the nose section/bumper section
Here are some pics of the engine. Its the original matching numbered engine for the car, and its been fully rebuilt. I have had all the tinware
powdercoated. It just needs the tinware, manifold etc putting back on.
Reconditioned 40hp heads, nice and clean
Comes with a new clutch
Needs a bit of TLC in the following areas:-
Rear seam passenger side
Started to pepper at the front seam. Otherwise the rockers are solid.
Drivers side front seam is peppering a bit to
Same thing at the rear seam
And lastly the base of the engine lid is cactus. You can get new inner/outer panels for this area
Thanks for your call back Steve.
I'll call back tomorrow as discussed.
Cheers,
Gaz
Are you willing to sell the EMPI or 356 Replica Rims separately?
If so, how much?
I've decided to put the EMPI's on my splitty this weekend, so the Ghia will be sold with the 356 wheels on it.
On ebay:-
