[WTB - NSW] WTB: Beetle upto $2000 Newcastle/Hunter area

I have been asked by a 17 year old student at one of the schools I lecture at if I could help find him a bug for upto $2000. He has a Ford he is off loading and some other money apparently.
He lives in the Newcastle area. I don't know what you can get for $2000 without having to do some work so I will be guided by your comments advice so that I can pass on to the young fella.
The one in WA would be a cracker but bit of a haul to get it here remembering his age. :blush:

I had a bloke come into work on Friday trying to sell me a 1960 somethink beetle for $1500 I told him i have seven to many already so i didnt get his number opps
He lives some where around Maitland???

im selling a 1974 beetle - white convertible (not standard its had the chop) in newcastle but i was hoping to get closer to $6500 O.N.O for it! it is in great condition
