[WTD] regoed Beetle
condo008 - December 17th, 2008 at 09:35 PM

G'day Aussieveedubbers, I'm now on the look out for a new beetle as my current beetle was burnt badly on tuesday evening.

I would like to find a pre-67 beetle but would not mind up to 70, my current car is a 1969 but i rather the look of the pre-67 models. Colour does not concern me but I would like little body damage etc.

My maximum price depends on what I will get from insurance but for this thread I'll say $5000-$5500.

I reside in Port Macquarie, NSW but would not mind travelling to pick up the right motor vehicle.

If anyone has a beetle in a suitable, drivable, registered and well look after state with minimal rust that i would be able to use as a daily driver, I would like to hear from them. I can be contacted on 0434617735 or emailed at condo_8@hotmail.com

Thank you Brad,

I realise you probably wouldn't be a car courier but would you have any idea how much it would be to have the car transported to NSW

Brad,

I'm in Port too.

What happened?

Tell us the story, have you got any pics? How much damage was there?

Regards,

Matt.

Hello Matt. I believe we have spoken once at the port bus terminal. I had the red 1969 beetle.

The car is written off. the entire car has been damaged by the fire, motor is stuffed, interior is gutted and even behind the dash has been affected by the fire.

It happened on tuesday evening. Myself, my girlfriend and two other friends were travelling out to Kings creek to look at christmas lights and on the way back in we heard a loud bang and the two girls in the back could feel heat on there legs. So i pulled over and everyone got out but as i had no way of putting it out it just kept burning. And as we were a far distance from the fire station it was a far while before the rural fire service got to us.

So yeah the cars stuffed, end now we have to wait for insurance to find out what i'll be able to get next. I will put photo's up soon but it might be a few days yet.

Brad,

I have priced transporting a Kombi to the Gold Coast from Tassie before and it was about $980.

You would imagine perhaps a Beetle would be a little less than that and so a bit shorter distance say around $800 bucks!

Probably cheaper to get a cheap flight down $100 bucks or so and drive it home $99 plus $65 for the car on the Spirit to go back??

Brad,

Yeah, that was me at the bus station, sad to hear such a nice beetle is no longer with us. Doesn't sound like there is much left but see if you can save the gearbox, I'm pretty sure you had a 1500 box in it and they are worth hanging on to.

If you need any help let me know.

When you get another beetle, get in touch and I'll go over it with you and give you some fire proofing tips.

Regards,

Matt.

Oh that would be good Matt. Thanks for the offer. And yes I've been told by Peter Richards that if i can buy the car back to rip out the gearbox.

And i'll try Les tomorrow. Thanks for the info.
