DO NOT TOUCH THIS IF IT HAS NOT BEEN REGISTERED BEFORE.

The ADR rules regarding kitcars changed circa 2002 (Aus wide), if you can't confirm that it has been previously rego'ed, you will have to seek approval as an I.C.V. (Independantly Constructed Vehicle), which will cost you a pretty penny. If it has previous M.P.V. (Modified Production Vehicle) approval, then you would be OK. The Condors are an OK 246 GT kit when done right.

There is POSSIBLY and I stress the word possibly a way around the Indiviually Constructed Vehicle (ICV) rules if you were to get this registered with a stock Type 3 engine.

If the body pan is unmodified and the engine, gearbox, steering, suspension, brakes, etc. are completely stock then I think that it would then, possibly, be an Extenively Modified Production Vehicle (EMPV), or a re-bodied vehicle and a lot of the more recent Australian Design Rules would not apply.

Then after rego you could put the Subi engine in it and then, I think, that the re-engining rules would apply.

I think that's the case. Don't take my word for that. Check with a consulting engineer first.

If that is the case it would be a good relativelty cheap project.

If it has to be an ICV then I hope that you have deep pockets, a lot of patience and tons of time.

If you are going to do something like this, and you are going to start from scratch, it is always better to get a registered car as a donor car and to keep it registered throughout the build. That can be done in WA as we don't have annual rego checks here.
