I purschased this car back in January 2009 from forum member Ed, please see here:
http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=73821&page=1#pid687303
with mileage on the car showing 16853 miles, 116853 miles
as of today car is showing 17242 miles, 117242 miles
I paid $5800 for the car, I am now asking $6200 for her.
Since I purschased the Beetle back in January I have had the following things done to her,
new fanbelt, and spare fanbelt purschased - $50
in February oil change and service, $165
in March new clutch forks, plates and clutch cable, new fuel line also fitted at this time, cost $660
Last Month car has had a major service, new distributor, oils changed, x4 brake hoses replaced (car still had the original 1965 vintage hoses
fitted)
distributor had to be changed because the points for the original unit were no longer available I was told from my mechanic.
x4 new tie rod ends and the steering rebuilt completely at the same time as the major service, new rotor, new cap, new plugs etc... etc.. done, x7
new hubcap clips were fitted also.
this was done at a total cost of $980
I have spent nearly $2,000 in mechanical repairs at the local Volkswagen Beetle mechanic here.
As you can see car has had a bit of money spent on her in the last few months.
Really drives very well now, starts very easily.
I had a look at the floor pan when the car was at the mechanic, the pan is very good, dent and rust free, my mechanic commented on how well the car is
with most pans being rusted out,
There is still wax coating under the car
Car is all original, 6 volt electrics still, with the original picnic radio fitted to the dash
Really the only things the car needs is a good clean and maybe if you are fussy a new seat trim kit fitted,
car has original seat belts etc...
runs and drives very well, cruises along the highway at 100kph easily.
I always get a lot of attention when I drive her, people always commenting on how nice and original it is.
This is an original unmessed with car, nothing mucked with, just like it left the factory.
Please genuine buyers only, my time is very short at the moment, with my father just coming out of hospital after a 2 month stay with heart
complications,
I am quite happy to help with interstate buyers, with transport, or for local people to come and have a look, just please no joyriders looking to
drive the guts out of my car with no interest in buying it.
I feel bad saying that, but last time I sold a car I had so many people just waning to drive it like it wasn't there car
Some pictures now:
Lights work well on 6 volts
Original antenna with the lock down key and brochure
I picked up a full set of books for the car on ebay
Mileage as of today:
Original radio
Trim just needs a good clean
Original rubber mats
Ignition key is different for this German made Beetle
Pedals
Rego'ed till May Next year
Note the tan running boards, different to the Australian cars
Original engine runs and starts well, no smoke, does not use any oil
Lining is very good condition
Made in Germany!
A good rust free car

Hi Des
Sad to see you have the old girl for sale.
truely one of the finest beetles i have ever driven and owned.
Pity you never called for some points, i have boxes of new old stock units here.
Funny you needed so much work done on a car that drove superbly anyway and had just passed a full roadworthy. Reckon some second opinions may have
differed but all sounds good non the less.
They are so rare in this country mate, its not until you drive or see them in person you can pick all the differences to our own 65 bugs.
All the best with the sale mate, as stated, this is one real fine bug.
Hi Ed
How are you?
I've been taking my Beetle to Nino at Bocchino Motors from the recommendation of other members here on the forum.
With the various Mercedes Benz cars that I have owned I have gone to Jedamzik Automotive but found their service and workmanship to go down the toilet
of late. I think ever since Carl left there in 2006 things have not really been up to the same standard.
That's where all the work has been carried out under his recommendations. I do have to say that the steering is so much better with new tie rod ends,
I am not going to move on the price, if it sells, yes it sells, if not I will keep it.
As you say it is a really nice car, starts so easily even if left in the shed for a week, BRRRMMM first turn of the key and off it goes.
I know if it sells I will probably regret it, as it is such a clean original car. Although I really only drive it once or twice a fortnight for the
sake of giving it some use and keeping the battery charged up.
This is a Very Rare Beetle in Australia...
there are very few 1965 German Made beetles in Australia
they have the large glass- windscreen etc the same size as 1968> Beetles in Australia... [NON Supers]
Sad to see You need to sell it Des...
but hopefully it will go to someone else who appreciates its rarity...
cheers
LEE
You would never find another one like this again.
Nino is very good des, thats good advice mate, the car has such a good history, anyone wanting to know the history can contact me.
all the best des
Have had a few people asking questions,
but still available, due to some changing circumstances on my part, I really do need to sell this car asap
hopefully to drum up some interest I have decided to reduce the price to
$5,000
If someone is interested please drop me an email to discuss further, I am happy to assist with getting car to the ferry for any mainland buyers who
might be interested.

Des,
Wise move keeping the car. Was half tempted myself until I spoke with the missus!!
The guys are missing you over at Ozbenz, when you buying another merc?
Cheers
Kurt
Far out worn second synchro to?? sure just not to much speed when changing down mate??
Pity you let the mechanics pull off that really sweet KdF sticker it came with, seeing as it was them that resurrected it!!! Ha Ha

Thats no good Des, that box not got same ratio's as Oz stuff mate, make sure they keep it all the same, it cruises at 100 kmph so easy that 1200. Pity you cant get the proper salt and pepper cloth trim that the seats came with originally, never seen factory cloth in a bug till that one turned up. If you need help with some good quality original seat trim mate give me a call, i can get direct froim the states.
/8 about to come back from mechanic ready for me to put it all back together.
Have a look at the member list and you'll se I am number 17.
Had a few beetles before the /8 was given to me.
Would still have some if it wasn't for the better half!!!!!
Cheers
