[FS - NSW] Once in a lifetime sale: VWFOOL's '54 Oval with the lot!
VWFOOL - July 31st, 2009 at 11:17 PM

It is with great sadness I list my much loved '54 Oval for sale. This is the car I planned to keep forever, but due to financial circumstances I cannot.

For a limited time only I am offering to sell the car as is, with all the accessories, 2.2L engine and rare wheels. One of the world's most favourite Rat Lookers and a rare oppurtunity.

This car is the complete package:
Australian 1954 Oval, original Reed Green paint and olive brown interior, amazing patina yet solid as a rock. No structural rust whatsoever, the surface rust on the roof and front guard is as bad as it gets. Floor pan, A-pillars etc are immaculate. I have kept the car garaged since I owned it and never seen the rain in all that time.

Monster 2180cc motor, with 48 IDA Webers. Built to 70s race specs by Ben Durie Automotive only 12 months ago. http://bendurie.com.au
External oil cooler
V-FORCE custom exhaust
Motor runs and sounds amazing.
Rebuilt 1500 gearbox.
Type 3 Square back rear brakes. 60s beetle front brakes.
Australia's first daily driver 8-inch narrowed beam. (I can arrange for a narrowed beam with shocks to be made at buyers expense), or fit the original.
CB Dropped Spindles.
Rear adjustable spring plates.

A six pack of original EMPI Lemmerz Sprintstar wheels with beautiful patina over the original silver and black paint. You get 4 x 5.5 inch wheels with centre caps (on the car) and 2 x extra rare 4.5 inch wheels as spares.

Other accessories include the Oval rear venetian, wood slat roofrack, flying VW bonnet emblem, centre mount bonnet antenna, Albert mirrors, working AM radio, original km/h speedo and under dash parcel shelf.
All the other original 54-55 parts are there including heart tailights, rubber floormats, ribbed door handles, big mouth fuel tank, solid sunvisor, colour matched original wheels, batwing steering wheel and semaphores. Ill throw in the 36hp motor, front beam, brakes etc etc. and any other VW parts I have in my collection.

Will be sold with 12 months NSW registration.

This was my dream car, the pinnacle of 10 years of VW ownership/worship. A car like this doesnt come around very often and I hope that the new owner will love and preserve it just as I did.

$16,000 firm.

Shame you have to sell Sam. IMO this is one of the most iconic Beetles in Australia today. Hope it goes to a good home. Love the photography.

Cheers
