Heya buddy,

I'm looking for a beetle around this year actually. How much do you want for it running?

Thanks
Mahon

i will throw some fuel in it and jump start it, if it runs which im sure it will, you can still have it for 1500.

I know this sounds like a strange question, but on the key, where is the groove. By that i mean, with the key facing away from you is the groove on the left, middle or right? I've got some blanks but there specific to different models
Thanks

I threw a bit of fuel down the carby, cranked it over, found the dist cap was 180 degrees the wrong way as it had a backfire, adjusted the timing a little and vrooooom, it runs, there must be old fuel still in the tank because it keeps running, no smoke, runs ok,has very old points and plugs etc, id say put new fuel in as it has a big dead spot on acceleration but otherwise shes good, i even had to turn the interior light off as it was on with the door open believe it or not.As for keys, the old owner lost them so i have spare keys to start it, not sure if they are 100% for that door and ignition but they start it so .............?

vwsteve - October 13th, 2009 at 05:20 PM

oh it needs a new muffler too, old one is rusted.

Mahon - October 13th, 2009 at 08:02 PM

That all still sounds good, I've just gotta finalize transport from caboolture to townsville. If you want to pm your address to me, I'll organize it asap. Do you want some sort of deposit? Also the with the key, if you can just figure out what side that groove is on (left, middle or right hand side?) that would be wicked.

Thanks steve
