[FS - SA] 1973 VW Type 3 Squareback - SOLD
waveman1500 - March 18th, 2010 at 10:57 PM

Hi there! I am selling my 1973 VW Type 3 Squareback, RLG-858. It is equipped with the standard 1600cc twin-port engine with twin Solex carburettors and 4-speed manual.

The car is generally in good original condition. This car makes an excellent daily driver, but I believe that it could be restored very easily to truly magnificent condition for very little money. The bodywork has almost no rust and is in reasonably good shape, although obviously, as with all cars of this age, it is not perfect. The original interior headlining and rear seat are in near perfect condition, and the rest of the interior is complete. The 1600cc engine is in good general condition with good compression and has the factory twin carburettors, but could benefit from a good tune-up.

The original service logbook is also included, which shows that this car was originally sold new in SA by Sierp Bros. VW in Enfield and is still currently registered with it's original registration number. Unfortunately the service history ends in 1983, but rest assured that the car has been serviced since then!

These pictures show the car as it was a short time ago. Please note that since these photos were taken I have added a pair of original-style stainless steel mirrors. The 14x6" wide steel wheels and tyres are NOT included in the sale unless negotiated, but I will include an alternative set of wheels and an excellent set of VW hubcaps.

The original seatbelts (with nice blue VW logos) are all present, but were tucked away under the rear seat when this picture was taken. Also included is a brand new 2009 model Pioneer CD/MP3 player, although this can be removed if unwanted.

This car is now SOLD, thanks!

This car is now advertised in The Advertiser, so if any members on here want it then please speak now! I would be willing to negotiate on price to see it go to a good home.

The car will come as-is in these photos. The photos in the original post just show how cool it can look on wide steels! These wide rims are now on my new car, so they're not included in the sale.
