Hi All,
I have an imported '68 beetle for sale:
I am the second owner and have had the car for about 3 years. The old guy who had it always kept it in a garage and was pretty keen on maintainence,
as such it was a great original car. However, the engine was past being an engine so the work started there, and pretty much consumed the whole
car......
Engine:
1916, AS41 case, Berg counterweighted and balanced crank with very lightened flywheel. Ported and polished heads, Mhale 94mm piston & barrel set,
heavy duty Kennedy clutch and pressure plate, new clutch fork. Engle 110 cam, 009, 45mm Dels, external oil filter, extra deep and wide sump, Holzl
exhaust and a Blue coil. Semi-solid nolothane mounts for the engine & transaxle with an old school transmission strap.
Brakes:
Every part of the brake system is brand new, solid lines, German master cylinder, flexible lines all calipers, discs, wheel bearings etc......
Front - 3.2 Carrera rotors, wide 911 hubs, new Volvo 4 spot calipers.
Rear - (from VForce) EB calipers, solid and drilled DBA rotors.
Suspension:
Fully adjustable front end, re-positioned upper shock mounts, Koni adjustable, new ball joints, tie rod ends etc....
Rear consists of BIG torsion bars from the US with very stiff KYB off road shocks, all rubber components replaced with nolothane.
Wheels - 15 X 6 Cookie Cutters in a really dark charcoal finish with pretty good rubber. Tele dials are another option if required.
Interior:
Sparco Sprint II race seat and a Sparco 2 piece reclining passenger seat to match, 4 point Bonds roll cage, 6 point FIA/CAMS approved harness, 1970's
sports steering wheel (nothing special but it suits the car).
Transmission - still original and in fantastic condition. No synchro problems, no selecting gear problems, does not jump out of any gear, full of
brand new oil and a new selector
This is a good original car made better. I am not into shinny cars and as such have not touched the paintwork. I have repaired the small ding in the
nearside front guard which is ready for paint. Also the front bonnet has been taken back to bare metal to fix another little gift from the original
owner. Currently etch primed and in black undercoat. The original rear guards have been replaced with late guards and big lights, however the
original seat are available if you want them also.
This car has done approximately 500kms on the new engine and brakes. Part of this was on the track to balance up the brakes and suspension which is
now done.
This is a wonderfully neutral beetle to drive and is very quick. The brakes are extremely effective and it is ready to race at any level.
I have invested over $14,000 getting the car to this point but as with most cars that are like this, the true value is hard to pick.
As such, i am open to offers. I will be posting images ASAP and i am happy for people to come and have a look, a drive and a chat.
I have just paid rego for another 12 months and the car is engineered for every modification listed above.
The car is located in Lakesland NSW 10 minutes from Picton or 20 minutes from Camden
