Hi all,
Just wondered if anyone has a genuine original 1952 Beetle in a shed somewhere.
Prefer somthing with no rust or accident damage. The more original the better.
Don't mind either if it's got some aftermarket stuff like Judson or Okrasa.
Preferably it would already be registered and in a roadworthy condition.
Hoping to find something for around $2000-3000.
I know it seems a bit out there but well
might want to add another zero to the price

sorry I only have the common 54 one........but its only $1500
I bought exactly that - 1952 factory sunroof Beetle - in East Maitland for $600, so they are about. Oh, it was 30 or so years ago.
It was in the Herald, and when I phoned, a lady with a very strong German accent answered. When I asked how many rear windows it had, she said
"one". Luckily I didn't hang up, and asked if the window had a dividing bar in the middle - she said "yes"
With trailer hooked up I was up there like a shot. When I moved and had no room for it, I sold it to a chap called Fhami, or something like that. Wonder where it is now?
Cheers, Greg
Greg did that one by chance have a pretty rough DIY rhd conversion?
A bloke i used to work with ages ago did his time as a panel beater way back when doing all mainly PMG repairs and was always around VWs alot
He was telling me about this this old german lady that had a split beetle that she brought to the country with her and converted to RHD herself, it
still had the speedo on the left and no passenger seat so she could put her groceries on the floor
Sounds like it. Was it in East Maitland?
Hi Greg
I drove Fhamis split many years to the NRMA Motorfest at the Rocks, he did finish off. He lived around Marrickville.
Here's a split story for you.
I used be a sales rep for VW parts company in the 1970s, it was part of the Provincial Motors group. Part of my round was going to VW shops all over
Sydney and selling them parts.
There was a servo at Sutherland near the railway station on President Avenue, in the lube bay was a dusty split window, I often pestered the owner
about selling it to me.
Fast forward to a few years ago, met up with a car club member who lived just on the other side of the Blue Mountains, got to talking about VWs, you
wouldn't believe it, he bought the split from the servo when it shut down.
Due to ill health the owner of the split is selling the car now, the owner offered the car to me before he advertised because of my past history with
car, but I don't have the funds to buy it or anywhere to store it. Always wishing I could win Lotto.
The add for it has been on the Club VeeDub website for a while now
"For Sale:- due to illness, much loved Split Window VW Beetle shell only. Vehicle history available. Instruments, wheels & new tyres come with
vehicle. Asking Price $15,000. Please contact Don Carter ph.02 6355 2037 or Email- margdon@cirruscomms.com.au"
^^^ thats actually pretty tempting from the looks, just needs a ragtop, airbags, gloss gloss gloss black & 17" radars
oh & steve, go to bed, or reply to the strut top thread on SBO :P

Wow, I didn't expect to recieve so many responses!
I was sort of looking for something closer to home cause I don't have a trailer and was hoping to get my dad to drop me off and I could drive it
home.
Craig, does the 54 have a sunroof I could cut out? I think they are the same from memory.

Gee I really enjoy reading this thread
Good to hear some old Vw stories and how it all comes together in the end
Funny though how it all comes out in this surely not serious wanted ad......
Steffen
Who says I'm not serious? I might be a bit of a tight arse, but serious I am.

Dogo,
If you find one can I have the aftermarket stuff like the Judson or Okrasa. Willing to swap for a case of beer.
norbert,
If that's BOTH (Judson and Okrasa), I'll swap the case of beer - no fancy brew though, VB or XXXX.
I found this split for under $200 lol:
here's one
they are still out there
a little bit over $200
