Up for sale is my 1973 Type 3 notch. If all goes to plan, I'll be buying an oval beetle but this needs to go so I have the space and the cash for it. It's my first air cooled VW and it's genuinely a regretful sale. I bought it from a VW enthusiast who looked after it and so did I.

The good:
It's been lowered two splines in the rear and one in the front. (It can be lowered one more in the front without any problems. My mechanic was a bit old school and said he didn't like the look of it too low  )
I just spent $1250 repairing a crank case leak and oil pump leak, so no oil leaks at all.

Brand new ball joints.
Brand new rear shocks.
Brand new front seat belts.
Brand new mesh sun visor.
Brand new rear venetian blind.
Brand new Empi 914 rims with brand new tyres (about 50 kilometres done)
Brand new headers.
Brand new muffler.
Brand new wiper blades
I'm 99% sure my mechanic said it also had a brand new rear torsion bar too.

The bad:
Paint on the drivers side was a bit crappy. I sanded it back and primed it. I didn't try to match up paint for it as it would have looked like I was hiding something.
Front seats are a bit saggy. It's perfectly drivable as is and it hasn't gotten any worse since I've owned it. It just needs some new padding if you don't like it the way it is.

It drives really nice and doesn't blow any smoke when starting up. It has rego until 14th September 2011. The original steel rims will also come with the car along with the original four hubcaps. Plenty of rubber left on those rims too.

I'm looking for $3,500. It easily owes me twice that with all the parts and labour it's had done to it.

Feel free to PM me anytime with questions or a time to inspect. I'm pretty much near a computer all the time at work and at home. I can email you some more pictures if you need anything too.

Thanks for looking!
Ben

Car is in Hunters Hill, Sydney, 2110.

Nice honest ride. Atleast you can see where the rust is as opposed to those who give their car a cheap new paint job to cover everything up.

Fair bit of $$ pumped into it too.
Good luck with the sale

Bump. Finishes in a few hours.

AzzA_teu - February 7th, 2011 at 03:12 PM

hmm, that's still a good price. Anything under 3.5k is bit of a steal imo.
Hope you get a good result.
