[WTB - VIC] Type 3 Auto
Getdownthump - March 2nd, 2011 at 04:24 PM

Hi all, I'm looking for a Type 3 Automatic for my wife and have not found much through the usual car selling sites so thought I would ask out loud here!
She's not too fussed if it's a notch/fast or square but needs to be in decent running condition at the least up to a mild resto. Would like to find one here in VIC but may be able to head over the borders to NSW or SA if the car is good to go.
Any leads would be great as we are ready to buy but these don't pop up everyday.

Cheers,

Dave.

[quote="05bjp90"]Hey Guys,

Unfortunately, due to some rather annoying circumstances i may be forced to sell my Type 3.

I bought the car mid last year off a lady in Collingwood. She had had it as a daily for a few years, she went overseas. Meanwhile a friend drove it on her behalf. She came back and had some basic work done to the car and it resumed daily driver duties. It was then put up for sale and thats when i snapped it up.

Its an Automatic. Its got pop out rear windows. And after doing some research on the engine number im pretty sure the engine is from a 72 model so it has been swapped out at some point.

It does have a little rust coming through on the rear pillars, sills and boot lid. The floor looks like its had a minor repair to where the battery tray sits.
I was told the car was repainted about 7 years ago, unfortunately, very poorly. Also, i am pretty sure there is some filler in the right rear guard.
The paint is starting to flake off down both sides of the car.
I was going for a rat look with my car so if anything this only improved the appearance. But hey, everyones taste is different...

Since i purchased the car i have lowered it (front and rear, cant remember how many splines sorry) but it could do with some new beetle shocks on the front as its a little bumpy at the moment.
I had two near new tyres put on the front, lower side profile for better handling when turning.
I also wacked on a complete set of overriders, whitewalls, sun visor, rear venetian, eyelids and a dummy spot light for the front.
With all my other cars i have only really been driving this one about once a week.

The fasty recently started running a little rough so it had a basic service, tappets changed, etc only to find that the engine is down on compression in the 3rd and 4th cylinders. I dont have the money to have this looked at right away so rather than let it go to waste i might be selling it.

Im looking for $1500 for the car, as it is in the photos minus the roof rack which is not for sale.
Also comes with registration until October 2011.
Does NOT come with a rwc.
Car is located in Werribee, Victoria. 3030.
I also have a few spare panels, complete interior, etc which i will throw in for an extra $100.00 to whoever buys the car.
Price is negotiable, with or without accessories so feel free to get in touch with me to discuss further.

By the way Dave

MASSIVE apology for continually missing your calls and not returning any of them...! I'm working some stupid silly hours at the moment (eccles might tell you I'm serious) and just simply haven't had the chance - except like now at midnight....!

Benny's car is awesome - needs some work but at $1500 is an absolute bargain I reckon...! and sadly mine is currently in storage and off the market...!

go get this good thing and make it yours...

cheers Ben...!
