[FS - NSW] 58 (october 57) Big window Beetle.** SOLD **
benjicon - April 19th, 2011 at 02:52 PM
Tha car is now Sold to a very happy new owner.. All the way back down to Melbourne!!
Hey Y'all,
This was a tough decision, but its one I had to make, I recently took a job in Singapore, so I have to let go of my Beetle. There will be other ones
in the future I'm sure. For now I want to see this one go to a good home.
Matching numbers, October 57 Big window, Shipped up from Adelaide about 7 months ago.. Recently had a rebuilt 1300 put in by Adam and Mike at RAW to
replace the original 1200, Still running 6 volt, lowered, narrowed beam, Brakes have been checked replaced master cylinder and one rear cylinder (i
think) and hoses, Replaced the clutch, New Nankang Tyres, White wall inserts, Awesome patina, virtually no rust. Registered till August 18th.
Currently insured with Shannons.
Things I didn't get around too, Split case tranny is getting tired, Could do with a 12 volt conversion or the wiring could do with a bit of a freshen
up, Suspension will need looking at eventually, Windscreen leaks in extremly heavy rain.
People who know the car will vouch for what a solid car it is, never driven a car that gets as much attention as this one, perfect to jump in and
leave ratty, also a rock solid base for a resto.
Car owes me a lot of money, I want $5500 for it. The Original 1200 comes included.
PM me if your interested, I'm located at Camperdown if you want to come and have a look. Its going on Carsales in a week. No time wasters please. Ph
: 0416961519.
Cheers .. Ben. ;-)

Bump... Price is negotiable.

Hey Ben,
Sorry to hear about the forced sale mate! It's a damn shame you've spent so much on repairs and have had hardly the time to enjoy it!
That said, this is obviously a perfect buy for someone who is keen for rat/resto as all the hard works been done!
Good luck with your new endeavors overseas and can't wait to see you back in a dub!

Cheers Ollie,
Yeah you summed up the situation pretty well, only thing worse than selling it would be letting it sit again, old cars need to be driven.
Ben.

I wish it was that easy mate, truth of the matter is I need the money, if you have ever moved to another country you'll know how expensive it is..
and I dont know when I'll be coming back if ever.. So its gotta go .. Hopefully someone will grab it soon .. stressing me out daily not having it
sold.
P.S. Rosie looks SO MUCH BETTER dropped at the front.
Paulc1964au - April 26th, 2011 at 08:04 PM

Thanks for the compliment yes Rosie looks better with attitude

it really is a shame Ben, but obviously u need to follow ur dreams/priorities.... if anyone is hesitant, i can vouch for what has been done to this
vehicle and the condition it is in, it is very very solid and could be left the way it is as a really cool rat (which i would do) or if u want to
restore it, would be a very cheap and easy project. $6000 is a very cheap price for this car, if i had the space and the cash i would be 1st inline.
cheers adam

Thanks Paul, I am new to the vw scene so relied on the great support of Ben and the positive comments from AVD members I read about the car. I will be
driving her to her new home, departing Sydney this Saturday. Don't worry, there will be lots of updates, I'm sure everyone here will be sick of my
questions as I learn the ins and outs of these cars!
Paulc1964au - May 2nd, 2011 at 08:03 PM

Hi Paul,
The trip went well thanks! She didn't miss a beat all the way, although some night driving in the rain (headlights and wipers) tested the electrics!
Had to roll start her in the morning due to a flat battery so I'll have to do some investigation there...Just trying to get some money together now
for VIC road worthy and rego. I'll get her out this weekend for some photos and start a thread in members rides...
Paulc1964au - May 12th, 2011 at 10:05 PM
thats awesome news glad you got her down to Victoria safely, yeah u really need to upgrade to 12 volts at some stage

Hi Steve, sorry about the delayed response. I did get your PM but I haven't yet made enough posts to PM you a response. I have been meaning to call
you. Thanks for the offer and chasing me up, I am definately interested. I might give you a call over the weekend sometime if that suits?
