1964 Karmann Ghia Cabrio New Specs and Price Read On Page 2
Calcool - September 6th, 2011 at 12:31 PM

Hi,

Change of plans and I have decided to sell my Karmann Ghia Cabrio.

I am asking what it owes me $12,9500

It is located on the Bayside East of Brisbane

Engine # AH080605
Vin # 6172209

I have the import approval papers and have contacted Dotars, it is fine to register in any state after it has passed the required inspections.

It has a 1600 twin port motor that appears to be a good runner, I have driven the car. It has a 12 volt alternator and besides connecting a couple of wires all seems to work fine, the wiper motor and armature needs assembly and is 6 volt.

Roof works well and secures tightly, it does need a new skin and comes with a new black skin and instruction manual. It also has a car bra and conslole.

There are some new door rubbers and taillights not yet fitted.

A new set of body trims and clips as well as new sunvisors are included.

The Doors, Engine Lid and Bonnet are all straight and rust free, some of the best panels I have seen on a Ghia.

The paint looks OK as does the body from a walk around. but as with all Ghias the Floor and Sills can be prone to rust and these will need some work.

Cheers,

David

Bump for the Cabrio

If someone wants to buy it before I start working on it. I have a new set of Porsche pattern disc brakes and dropped spindles for the front and discs for the rear as well as a new mastercylinder and a set of repro polished 15 by 6 Porsche pattern Fuchs that I am willing to talk into the deal.

Cheers,

David

Are there any modifications on this vehicle? If its never been registered in Aus its going to be hard to pass an engineer's inspection. Did a '64 Karmann Ghia come stock with a 1600tp? I thought they had a 1200 (I could be wrong)

Calcool - January 1st, 2012 at 12:02 PM

So Thomas71 do you want to buy it???

Only modification is the 1600cc motor and yes originally came with a 1200 from new and the 356 style wheels are not standard either. It is a factory convertible not an aftermarket chop top so no engineers report required for the roof.

No problem registering or engineering just look at the many other modified vehciels on the road, ask your local state registration authority about the process.

Cheers,

David

Hi David,

I've sent you a text as I am interested.. but want to ask more about how much work it will need.

Great that it has a 1600 engine (the last one I drove was original 1200 and a tad gutless!). Disk brakes and Fuchs repro wheels sound great too..

I am fairly new to Karmann Ghias (only test driven a couple so far) but work with a Kombi fanatic so will have some good advice on hand..

Cheers,
James.

Calcool - June 26th, 2012 at 12:56 PM

Hi All,

I have been busy with other things and the Ghia is still sitting in the garage!

I am thinking of trailering it to Nambucca for the Spectacular and can assist with getting it to Sydney from there.

Cheers,

David

Hi Daivd ,
Are you intrested in a swap for a motorbike.

I've got a 2006 Ducati Monster S2R1000 with full termignoni exhaust ,tuned race computer, carbon covers and ventura rack, nothing needed doing to it.

Calcool - June 26th, 2012 at 06:44 PM

Sorry not into bikes!

See if you can sell it and buy outright.

Cheers,

David
