(SOLD) 1954/55 Oval Rat Looker Price Drop and More Pics and a Judson...
Calcool - September 6th, 2011 at 02:50 PM

Hi,

I have sold one of my other cars and so can now see the light of day in making some space at my place so I have dropped the price

$6750 complete as is!

I have a fully rebuilt never fitted better than new 36Hp Judson Supercharger to go with the car. It was rebuilt by George Folchi in the states and comes with a New Old Stock Judson Magento and New Old Stock Marvel Oiler Bottle. there is a completely rebuilt 28PICT Carby as well. There is a larger spring for the fuel pump, belts, pulleys, badges hoses. It is complete and ready to bolt on you can have the Oval and Jusdon for $9000

It is a 55 but it has the Bevel edge doors and click clack lock mechanism, Batwing Sterring Wheel, the no cut out for tailpipes rear beaver panel aswell as the Big necked Petrol Tank and finally the heart Tailights, so it is more like a 54 than a 55 or later Oval

Chassis No 1850126
Eng No 1494002

This is one very solid car, I can say it has no structural rust, it has a few bubbles and surface rust on the roof from some poorly repaired dents from earlier in its life. The rear beaver panel is original "H" panel with no tailpipe cut outs, however at some stage a dual tailpipe muffler has been fitted and there is a little damage on the beaver panel. the bonnet has a split in it were they usually go and I have a spare 60's bonnet you can have to fix it if you want.

It is 6 volt and starts up first time, the battery is relatively new and always on trickle charge, it has original semaphores but they are not connected, the ugly round trailer lights are connected and flash, very safe you cannot miss them!!!

It has some nice accessories such as illuminated indicator stalk, rear ventian blind, car club badge, Coca Cola Bottle Opener on the dash just to name a few.

The front seats have been retriimed close to original at some stage and the rear seat is original, the hoodlining is best descibed as ratty. Door Trims are good. The original carpet it ratty and the Floor mats are in pretty good condition too!

I am in the process of fitting new Bailey Channels as the old ones had biodegraded. Glass and Qtr vents are perfect!

It is all there and everything works drop spindles with an adjustable beam up front and adjustable rear spring plates, it is very low as can be seen in the pics. It has ratty 356 rims and rusty hub caps to finish the look. Brand New 135 Nankangs up front and fatty plenty of tread Firestones on the rear.

It runs and drives, probably needs its brakes adjusted and a good long run to getting it running better, would not take much for rego. The gearbox is noisy but shifts fine and i will throw in a spare gearbox from another low mileage Oval that was fine when I last drove it.

If you are interested in a wide 5 front disc brake conversion as well I have new in the box a set of Classic Veedub discs with calipers bearings and hoses as well as a new dual circuit master cylinder for $450 it has new spindles as well.

Located East of Brisbane on the Bayside 4160

Cheers,

David

Good luck with the Poms since the ass dropped out of their economy theyre cheaper over there than they are here !!
Some people over there are still asking silly money but they aint getting it

MISS VDUB - October 12th, 2011 at 10:07 PM

Yep and most are rusted to high heaven because of salted roads. They would rather pay the extra still and import a solid car. This car deserves a loving owner, love it!

An oval is very rare in the UK as the salt on the winter roads plus the salt air...
eats any bare metal [stone chips] very fast...

Very rare to have an unwelded beetle over there..
any model...

unless it came from the uSA or Australia.. lol

I dont normally post on peoples for sale threads, but early 55 ovals are a rare beast and finding the correct parts is not easy and not cheap, so to finding one complete and solid in any country is becoming harder. good luck with the sale. lovely car
