Where did it start life being right hand drive? Carb's on a 412 would be quite rare?

What a car. We were just flicking through our 'Without Guesswork' VW publication and noted that the 1700 type 4 had the high compression engine rated for a top speed of 155. No 1800 mentioned so my book must be too early.
