[WTB - QLD] 1953 - 1957 Oval Beetle
MrsBahBah - December 30th, 2011 at 06:36 PM

I'm looking for a solid, straight and original 53' - 57' Oval Beetle with minimal rust. I'd prefer one that's driveable and complete. I'm located in South East Qld, however I am willing to travel to look at the vehicle. So if you have an Oval you're thinking of selling, or know a friend of a friend who is, I look forward to seeing your post below or receiving a PM. Thanks!

there are a few ovals priced from about $9000 to $35000
there is even a Herbie bug for $250000

How much do you expect to pay? I have a march '55 built that I am planning to drive from Adelaide to the nationals in Sydney in 2012 for the purpose of selling.
Cheers Dave

Calcool's oval would have to be pretty close to fitting the bill I reckon...

It all depends on the condition of the vehicle. When are nationals? I'll be heading to Valla in August, but hope to have one before then. If I PM you my email address are you happy to send some pics?

Cheers.

ian.mezz - December 31st, 2011 at 07:42 PM

best to buy one that is in good order and with newer running gear as the 1200 motor is slowwww and gear box crunches
eg newer 1600 motor
newer model gearbox
brakes
It just makes them so much better to drive.

bushed - December 31st, 2011 at 07:48 PM

and easier to flip/roll Ian, also the brakes the 12 volt and it will no longer be an original collector classic

best add a compensator spring and 2 wider wheels at the back only

ian.mezz - December 31st, 2011 at 07:55 PM

yeah them items toooooo
nothing that you cant change back one day.
