[WTB - NSW] Semaphore bug
petemart - March 22nd, 2012 at 03:57 PM
WTB
Semaphore bug (maybe early 60s).
Must be a dry complete car in original Black, Dark Blue or Grey paint.
Not fussed about engine but would like something with the interior in ok condition, but this is not a high priority.
Want to spend up to $4,000 but open to a conversation for higher if you present the right car.

Beetles with trafficators [semaphore is US term] finished in 1960 models .. late 1960 models had blinkers... [in Australia]
so, most are 1950s... 57-58-59 have the big rear window...
earlier cars have the oval rear window...

I think its pretty clear he's after anything from 54 > 62 with a preference for earlier models (with trafficators). Best of luck with the search.

I understand for that $$ range I'm not going to get a one owner complete running show car, all I'm really looking for is a complete rolling early
bug with a dry body and pan I can build up as a weekend warrior.
I am willing to pay the right money if someone has the right car.
The 62 rat that just sold is the level of body/interior I'm looking for.
Come on all you VW hoarders..you can't be buried with them!

There are still great deals out there for bugs Tar 76 has just scored for his wife an absolutly fantastic 63 standard wait til you
see this baby when she's cleaned up but like I said previously a good bugs a good bug but you buy a bug for say $4500, but buy the time you have done
the brakes mounts and rectify all the missed service item from the last 20 years you'll be looking at $6-8k to get rolling then turn it into a
weekend warrior?Dave buttler box$4k,correctly built engine $6-20k they get damm expensive if your paying some one to do it for you.My car fruit loop
mightn't look much but I've eaisly got$15k in it and I do all the work on it with abit of help from freinds.Make sure you know what your getting
into if this is going to be your first Vw please get it looked at.I've heard comments like when I saw "her" I instantly fell in love! And I say
shame you fell in love with a prostitute who's been #####d by everybody!that being said do you like white cars?

Yes Dubbindan and the guy I bought it off is obviously extremely smart and handsome!

I guess it really is who you know not what eh...

Sikras, I feel your pain as I looked for 2 years at many overpriced tarts.
I was very surprised myself that not one person contacted me about this original post.
I quite obviously paid more for the 62 I bought than the $4000 I indicted I would pay for a dry bog stock roller, but it is exactly what I wanted and
its had plenty spent on it.
The guy I bought it from came across another project he couldn't pass up and I had made it very clear to him I would buy it from him if it was ever
for sale.
People may think it crass, but if you have the dollars and don't take the piss with low ball offers, talk to the owners of the cars you like and
express your interest in it as you might come across someone who might just sell it to you to fiance another they themselves are doing exactly the
same.
I want to once again express I'm in no way advocating the culture of contacting users and making take the piss offers.
Chin up and good luck with your search.
Valla is in a few months and there should be quite a few for sale?
