Must be a real split willing to look at almost anything must be in oz.
Anyone!
Are you looking for something to be restored or do you want the work already done.? How complete does it need to be.?
Would an early Cabrio ( zwitter) fit the bill or must it be a sedan?
Some perameters might give me some ideas

Is a Zwitter a "real split"??
well yes in my humble opinion...
if the factory puts two back windows in then yes its a split window beetle (not traditional refered to as a split but a split all the same)
and more specifically its a zwitter which makes it a little bit unique and super cool...
similar to 60/61's with 50/50's its the 'one year' only stuff that draws some special interest
a zwitter may not have two gloveboxes but all split window beetles have changes in them over the years, and oval dash in 53 is simply one of those
changes...
1946 Split Beetle .
Been like this for about the 25 years that I have had it.
Not many of them around.
1947 Beetle.
Body and rolling chassis, no engine.
Probably had it about 25 years.
Also not many around.
1953 Split
Reasonably complete and original.
Again, had it over 25 years.
Sometimes considered to be rarest of the Splits
Wow dude. What a dream to have 3 of them...
...are you selling any of these???
Yes, can be sold.
I had 9 splits up until about 10 years ago after collecting for 30 years and then realized that we don't live forever so have been downscaling my
collection since.
Needed to get it to a managable level including all other models.
Welcome to come and inspect.
I am away for work atm. I will PM you in 6 weeks when I get home...(if there are any left!)
what about the other one in the first photo???
The other one in the first photo???
There were 105 volkswagens in my shed in that photo back in the year 2000.
The others I kept at my home.
Now i have moved up the north coast and down to about 20 and feeling much better.
Had to build new sheds, but they are now managable.
you'd have to be the coolest kid on the block... would love to come for a cruise to take a look some day, maybe when mines finished i'll cruise to Valla one year and keep on coming...
Just a guess here.......but you are one of the Lees brothers???? yeah???
Grazza,
Thanks for those photos. They will wet a few appetites.
Imagine having a 53 Sedan and a 53 Cabrio sitting on the same garage.
I am still working on one of the 45 Sedans that came out after the war.
I have now developed a great history of the vehicle you used to own but keep hitting a brick wall on the other vehicle which was for sale at a garage
in Horsham Victoria on the 18th January 1954, even before the first batch of new imported vehicles went on the market in Victoria in 1954.
Am trying to track down John Kouljus ( spelling) from the early days as he may know something about the vehicle.
Interested to hear what Dubai does.

Hi farkengruven
Yes, sole remaining brother sadely.
John died from cancer 1996 and is always missed.
Bill,
I always have plenty of photos going back many years.
Your history quest is admirable and many of us appreciate your efforts.
I find now that the fewer cars that I have, the more I can get done on them.
Maybe Dubai will help the cause by restoring one.

Good to see pics of the '46 and '47 again. These were shipped from the UK to Aus by Graham in about 1989-ish if I recall correctly? The '46 was owned by a very eccentric guy called Captain Maurice Seddon from West London. He converted the car to run on propane or something crazy like that back in the 1960s. The '47 I believe used to belong to my friend Richard Cotton.
Rare opportunity to own a 46, 47 or 53 Split Beetle.
Thank you for all the Pm's.
Now that I have put an asking price out there on the splits, I am happy to consider any genuine offers.
Don't make me an offer that I may accept and then tell me that you have to sell something first!
Money talks, bullshit walks.
Naturally, anyone can look first.
