We have just ventured into the world of VW and bought ourselves a pretty good '66 VW. This was after lurking and searching for a good example of a beetle that we can drive regularly. And it never rains but pours - we have now located a schmick 1956(?) truly one owner VW. Always garaged, full service history, no rust, original books, and has been subject to a full respray and re-upholstery in the last couple of years. Original with a capital O. Elderly gent purchased it as his first vehicle way back when and it was then used by his wife and he has lovingly maintained it the whole time. So experts, what's it worth? Have seen similar models and and in alleged concours condition for 15 to 20g but it this what they really fetch? We want to buy this one as a show car, not a daily driver.
original with a capital o would mean no respray and orig interior ,whats it worth to you ,theres a couple good ones for sale at moment for around 10-12 but one that sold on here recently was asking 18 prob got arond 15-17 itd wanna be good to get that just my 2c
Apologies - by original I meant no bastardisation of the vehicle. I'm inquiring about market value, not emotional value.
People will ask high prices for Oval's, But in my experience they just don't sell. I think the market is getting stronger in the last few years but
it sounds like a $6 - $8K Oval.
If it was an early model maybe 8K - 10K.
I just know there is a lot around for sale but not selling above
the $10K mark unless there a really nice unit or has a special
patina or vintage speed theme.
Only my thought's
