It's time to sell my baby to fund a new project/daily driver. I love this thing to death, but I can't afford to keep it and buy a new project.

It's a 1964 Aussie built model with rego until June 2013.
Strong 1300cc engine. I've just replaced the inlet and exhaust valves, new exhaust manifold, new valve adjusting screws.
Original 6 volt electrics.
4.5" narrowed, adjustable DUB beam.
New 145's (Hancook) at the front and Micheline 165's at the back (not new, but plenty of tread).
Gearbox seems fine and never had an issue with it.
Lowered two splines in the rear .

I've owned it for over a year now and it was completely stock when I got it. When I got Vintage Vee Dub to put the beam in, they also did a lot of other work to it. Their invoice (which I can provide) was for over $4,500 and included a lot of other parts and maintenance.

I've also changed a lot of parts and done work to it.
The new parts in the car are:
-New front and rear suspension
-New Bosch vacuum advance dissy
-New Bosch 6 volt coil
-New plugs
-New leads
-New driver and passenger lap seat belts
-Original carburetor has been rebuilt
-New front bumper bar and overriders
(There's got to be more than that. I'm sure I'm forgetting some other stuff)

Accessories that are included:
-Rear venetian blind
-White wall flappers
-Brand new running boards
-Roof racks with old luggage and Malleys esky
-Swamp cooler
-KDF logo hubcaps from Kaefer Nostalgie. They've been powdercoated white and the logo done black. One of them came off while driving and it got damaged. I've fixed the hubcap and luckily there's only a few cracks in the powdercoat.
-Original hubcaps are also provided
-Flying VW hood emblem
-Albert Swan neck mirrors
-Sun visor
-Mud flaps
-Mexican rugs to cover the seats
(Beauty rings and Luft plaque are shown in the photos above. These are not included in the sale).

The car was resprayed by the previous owner about three years ago. The only bit of rust I can see is in the rear of the car. There's a bit right on the end of the engine lid and also on the rear rain channels. It was treated as soon as I bought it by the guys at Vintage Vee Dub and it has not gotten any worse in over a year. I've provided photos of it below. (There's dust around it at the moment. That's not rust flakes or anything sinister)

The car has always been garaged and only driven on the weekends. Turns a lot of heads, blah blah blah. Sits on the highway nicely and can easily tackle hills. I drive like a little old lady too, so it's never been over revved or thrashed. I've done a compression test and it was roughly 110psi on each cylinder.

Any problems with the car?
-The steering wheel horn ring is broken.
-There's rear rubber mats but no carpet or mats in the front.
-Driver's seat has a tear in the corner.
-The centre channel has had some repair done in the past and the metal was not put back properly. Anyone with welding experience could fix this. There's a pic below of it.

I've poured a lot of money into this car over the space of a year and, as like with any car, I'm asking much less than what it owes me. It would make sense to keep it, but I want a new project. I know I'll miss it a lot when it goes.

Sale price is $7,500.

Feel free to PM me here or you can contact me on 0403 722 145 but the speaker on the phone is broken. Feel free to text me and I'll call you back when I can. I'm usually pretty prompt if I'm not at uni.

More than happy to provide any other photos you need. Car is located at 2110 in Sydney.

Cheers,
Ben

Haha. Yeah I'm pretty good at that, hey :D It's been levelled out since this photo was taken.

Pollywaffle - August 8th, 2012 at 10:24 PM

I don't, sorry. They're hard to come by =/

petemart - August 12th, 2012 at 06:03 PM

Hey Ben, what's going on??

Pollywaffle - August 12th, 2012 at 08:10 PM

(Foolishly?) I've decided to sell my pride and joy to fund another daily driver/project car. It would make sense to keep this car as I've spent too much money on it, but I can't afford to keep it and get the new project. Actually, I've been meaning to PM you a question or two. Just doing a tad more research first though.

Pollywaffle - August 22nd, 2012 at 01:46 PM

Bump. I'm open to offers, fellas.

patbot - August 28th, 2012 at 10:27 PM

Are you ever on the M5? There can't be a whole lot of turquoise bugs out there in Sydney. I know I've seen a better version of mine on the M5 before... Beautiful bug, wish I could help. Whoever buys it is getting the best colour!
EDIT: Looking at your bug is making me depressed, makes me realise how much better mine could be :( Any possibility you'll sell some of the accessories separately?

Pollywaffle - August 29th, 2012 at 09:56 PM

Yeah that could be me. I drive it to uni sometimes, it likes cruising on the highway. Thanks for the kind words. Sorry, I'm not selling anything separately.

Pollywaffle - August 30th, 2012 at 08:28 PM

Hey Jimmybay, unfortunately I won't be coming down for Revolks. More than welcome to have a mate in Sydney check it out for you. I can also assist with interstate transport.

Car is still for sale and price is negotiable. I probably shouldn't have advertised it as I've been flat out with uni work and I've barely been able to show it, I should have waited for the holidays. If you or anyone is keen to have a look, I'll be available in a week or two at the most.

Feel free to give me a call, text or PM.
