Wasserboxer/Caravelle 2.1 Engine spec

Hi guys,

Not sure if I should be posting the following on this forum.

I'm after the spec of STOCK 2.1 Wasserboxer - in partcular :

1. Length of con rods - same as Type 1's ?

2. Piston's compression height i.e height from centre of gudgeon pin to top of piston ?

3. Length and thickness of cylinder (piston liners).

Rod length iss the same as type 1 at 137mm but they use a 24mm pin.

I only have a 1.9 piston here, which have a large dish inside,
and the pin height is about 40 to 40.5mm, which would mean that the 2.1 with a 76 stroke has 36.5 to 37mm pin height.

I can't tell you the length of the sleeves,
but I do know that they are quite thick
and the base is about 100mm,
which is plenty to bore out at least a couple of mm if that is what you are thinking.

Hi Dave,

Many thanks for your reply, the infos supplied are exactly what I was looking for.

Planning to use wasser's crank with stroke either 80mm or 82mm with aftermarket ''h'' beam rods rebushed to 22mm as you've stated.
Bore - I'm thinking to maintain stock configuration using the Cima/Mahle ''B'' piston of 94mm (compression height of 35mm). This would mean the minimum (aftermarket) rod length I can use is 5.400" (137.16mm) to maintain a decent crank stroke to rod length ratio (vis a vis piston speed, vacuum overlap which will influence the cam selection, side loading on the cylinder etc). I need to double check again on this combo. Please critique or correct me on this.

Definitely planning to stay wasserboxer.
