Type 1 manifolds on type 3

Would like to know if longer straight and offset manifolds used on beetles fit past the type 3 tin. I've got twin DRLA 40s with short manifolds. The problem is I have to remove carbs and manifold to service the spark plugs.. It's to put it bluntly - a bitch of a job.

Probably easier to get a better sparkplug socket. Stahlwille part # 1052 is the best for VW. Adjustable in length, thin wall to get past all but the worst manifolds. I have had an occasional issue on 1 cylinder with the type 3 manifolds, if necessary, carefully clearance the manifold and you won't need to remove them each plug change.

And those little wobbly socket extensions are brilliant.

I have those tools. I'm using empi short manifolds.. Perhaps the cb shorty's provide more clearance as these are a no go.

I know where there are some CB IDF type 3 manifolds locally,
