I was thinking of chopping back the home made roof to the last window near the door and some nice big off road tyres and making it a home made Country Hummer type look for off road what do you think?

it would still have room for the ute area in the rear then

and make a bull bar up to give it the Hummer look

first, ditch the reduction boxes and the raised front spindles. weld in front adjusters and adjust to taste. next add the big motor and beefy gearbox, upgrading the brakes will reduce the spiceyness but make it far more palateable to RTA officers. stir well.
now the base is finished, it's time to chop those extra 3 or 4 inches out of the roof. simmer for about a month in a warm garage.
now your country buggy rat-rod is ready to serve on a platter of burnt smoking rubber.

Can anyone tell me what are the best gear boxes to use with the bigger tyres for off road? Is the type 2 - 2-litre box the way to go then instead of the reduction box?

And I was going to use the original front end and box that is in it to save money, but want to create it with out having to cut and weld the car, as little as possible.

Only want the Hummer look without ruining the car as someone may want to turn it back to an original one day.

Need any technical advise, that would be helpful as I have seen a Hummer kit in a book and it does not look much different, you just have to look outside the square.

If you want to run bigger tyres stay with original front and rear ends. On the Desert Bug (Country Buggy front and rear ends) I made up 15x6.5 rims with 215/75x15 Dueller all terains on the front and 235/75x15 Dueller Mud Terrains on the back. I set the center at 135mm from back of rim to bolt face of center, I did over 10,000ks with this setup without any major dramas. These rims would fit inside the body line of a CB and gie it a real tough look.

BIG wheels and tyres, play with the headlights, BIG engine (subi? kombi t4 2l?) and redo rear panel so it meets lower rear!
