Anyone got any good spots to mount a mod plate in a beetle. Unfortunately has to be rivetted to a panel that can't be unbolted from the car. Wish I could just keep it in the gove box.
Hi
Why not make the rivets non functional and glue it on.
Steve
I repositioned my Manufacturer's plate on the baja under the bonnets till but on the drivers side. its hidden under a tartan boot liner.
Maybe as said, glue it to the side with fake pop rivets to not have unnecessary holes drilled into the body.
On my S bug, I rivetted it to the support frame for the fuel tank just above the spare tyre.
Yogie
all of mine are mounted behind the spare wheel.
mines behind the spare wheel too
My mod plates are under the front bonnet, passenger side inner guard... just ahead of the brake fluid reservoir.
Would be hidden nicely behind the trunk liner.... if I ever bothered putting one in !!!
No need for fake rivets or the like. It can be fixed on with sikaflex or similar according to my mod plate guy, just has to be on a non removable
panel and must be "permanently" fixed - after all you can drill out rivets in 30 seconds so sikaflex or good silicone is probably a better fixing
method anyway, plus no holes. Both are legal and acceptable in Qld.
It must also be easilly visible if needed ie for cops or transport to look at, ie. can't be under carpet that takes a half hour of work to remove to
reveal the plate.
That said, if the bug is now "modified", that plate has to stay on it permanently, forever, even if the rego lapses etc etc, the mod stays on
record, and even if the mod is later undone and the vehicle put back to original, the plate stays mounted to the car (a second mod plate then has to
be fitted) so really not too much of a worry riveting it. I riveted the plate for my child seat anchors and rear seat in the kombi, just easier to
remove for painting etc.
The installer did tell me though that if you have it mounted in an improper fashion, ie just carrying it, fitting to a removable panel etc, the
installer can get fined $500 or so because legally they are supposed to fit it, so do it right or you may have a peeved mod guy on your doorstep.

We have a Monaro CV8 at work, and it has a mod plate dated the same as the compliance plate to say it is a two seater. Then thereis a second plate 1 year later to say it is a 4 seater.
