Beetle Wiper Arms
bugmaniaar - March 28th, 2013 at 08:40 AM

Hi all
I have a 63 bug and the wiper arms seem to have too little pressure pushing against the windscreen.
Is there anyway to increase the pressure that they push against the window??
Thanks,CC

I know it sounds crazy but its tru, literally bend them in a wee bit. :tu:

That bend in the arm is like a spring maintaining wiper contact/pressure.

As Chris says actually bending the arm outwards eases the tension on the spring by moving the pivot point, lube the roller and make sure it is not worn excessively in the pivot pin or roller. .

the spring or tension piece is probably too weak...
so, just gently pend the arm in to the windscreen ..

that should put more pressure on it..

or replace the wiper arms with those off a 1968 beetle
which has proper spring tension and proper wiper blades
and the shaft is the same size..
so they just fit on and tighten up the grub screw...
