petrol fumes

Hi Every one, I have re done my 73 super bug and almost ready to upload fotos of the awesome custom inside and in Rally blue Mica paint.
Ive noticed lately that my car absolutely wreecks of Petrol fumes....
Ive had it checked out by VW mechanic in springvale, but he could not see a leak anywhere!? It may have something to do with the breathe hose been reconnected..
Do I need to get a Charcoal cannistor or something?
Any help would bee greatly appreciated.
Thank :-)

It will be the breather system

One of your hoses will be cracked or kinked

Have a read of this one

Shove your nose in there and have a sniff round

Could be coming from the tunnel

If it still has the old original cotton covered breather hoses
they can crack and leak fumes.... and usually do...
You can replace them with rubber hose that will fit over the fittings... fuel or vacuum hose should do...

You won't find the cracks...
it only leaks when fuel is in it....
so You can't see the fumes... [normally]

it is normal until You replace those hoses...

also check under the tank and near the fuel filler...

cheers
