Trouble removing Flex Plate
satori - April 11th, 2013 at 09:10 PM

Hi all. Im trying to remove a flex plate off a 2.1 wasser and replace it with a fly wheel. The 5 hex head boilts just wont budge. Tried with a impact wrench but with no results. and with a long wrench with a hex head socket but almost stripped them. Any ideads.

Drill the heads off? once the load is off then the remainder of the bolt should be able to be removed easily.

Heat and replace bolts

Get a better quality socket. You will find heavy duty sockets only have 6 flats to contact the bolt head.

those bolts I think are like 80 or 90 ft-lb so yeah thats tight for their size.

Daves on the money with a single hex socket, if you want to round bolts & nuts go the double hex, I allways use single hex to crack a bolt/nut then use the double hex to remove if its in a confined area

And use the single hex,the heat will help crack the loctite.
