09 Jetta Parking sensor
Carl and Emily - May 3rd, 2013 at 06:48 PM

Hi All,

The parking sensor system on my mum's jetta is not working.

Put it in reverse and get one longer beep then nothing.

I understand one faulty sensor can shut down the system.

I think I know which one it is.

Can they be removed and cleaned?
If so,. how?

Is there anything else I can try before going to the dealer?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Carl

Thanks Sander,

I've joined there, and put a post up.

So far the responce seems to be that it has to go back to the dealer.:(

Surely Matty Berry or all the other brillant people on here can fix it with a wave of their magic wand!!!

Oh wait,... we all like the old stuff that we can work on ourselves:yes:

ye old technical tap with a hammar seems the best fix so far.

Turns out it has a faulty control module.
Have been quoted $577- supplied and fitted.:td:

The car has only done 64,000 klms.

This car has not been that great.

First it had to be de-tuned because Aussies were not using the right fuel in the 118TSI and VW had too many fail completely.
Which sux because we have always put the 98 RON in it,.. and it definately ran better before the re-call.

Then it had a recall on the,... you guessed it,.. the control module in the DSG.

Now this latest thing which if she gets it fixed she will have to pay for because it is now out of warrantty.

So the question is.
Do you hang on to these newish cars,.. or are more and more things going to go wrong, which I can't fix.?

Big :td::td: Volkswagen.

Rant over.

Can you retrieve one for a fraction of the price off a wrecking yard?

Surely its just unplug old and replug new?

Alternatively, ebay world wide has people parting wrecks of all sorts including mod-con cars.

here you go, from gumtree. They'll probably post it to your door:

I hear what your saying Chris, but there is no warrantty on electrical parts from wreckers.
That's bit of a concern

I think she is just going to live with out parking sensors for a while, see how she likes it, she never had them on her previous car.

I see that one has a towbar. Someone on here was looking for one not so long ago.
