Anyone know where to buy rosin flux for lead filling and soldering?

the only flux I can find is tiny tubes at jaycar or the "bakers solder flux" which is just zinc chloride which I find pretty much useless and makes a mess.

rosin flux is like a golden syrup looking flux.

You could try plumbers' supplies.

I've always used Bakers flux for lead wiping. Always 'tin' the area first, using a rag, or steel wool to rub the lead [or solder] over the metal. Make sure you remove all traces of flux, before any painting.

yes that what i do too but i find it doesn't work as well as the rosin flux i used to use when i had some.

If you are doing body lead filling, you would be best to use Kemtex B916 Tinning Compound/. Available from Consolidated Alloys. It is the proper product used by restoration panel beaters.

thanks hellbus, they are a convenient 5 min drive on the way to and from my current job site.

hmm cap alloy? we had some big bars of zinc in the shed when I was little that had cap alloy written on them. Nope my mistake, type metal according to their site.

thats a kinda weird nostalgic feeling.
