Im just wondering how strickt must you be when putting the heads back on. i just fitted new push rod tubes and nipped the heads up in a even sequence
in stages.... to approx 23-25 foot pounds
just read up a bit on it now ha ha
i kicked it over it fired then stopped. checked the left head and it was slightly leaking i think i missed the bottom four nuts on the final
tighten up.
so i nipped them up and seems ok still not starting as battery a bit flat , charging now
car is running who hoo.....
There is a torque sequence. You don't want it too tight either! Its imperative for longevity you should follow such, as tension in the head studs
will grow as components expand with heat, and its only soft aluminium on the heads being sandwiched into the iron barrels.
Heres a website that directs you the procedure:

The sequence for tightening the nuts changes as you do it.
There is one sequence for the first tightening and then it changes for the final tightening.
Get a manual and do it right,
