I need help, I can't find my flasher can. Maybe it's not there. Where should I be looking as I want to get the electrics sorted.
Reckon its behind the fuse box in the centre of the dash
That is correct if its an L bug - curved screen.
If its 1976 standard I am not so sure
You need to take the cover off the fuse box thing then lay on your back and slide in under the dash
Ls finished in '75.
If it was a standard 76 he would have found the flasher by now, they are staring you in the face in a 76.
Theres a few later 75 Lbugs out there people have been calling 76s often gets passed on from owner to owner but yes they finished in mid 75.
To find the relay on an Lbug you need to drop the fuse box down, there are 2 screws recessed in either side.
The relays are all slotted in along the back

Joel's photo is a bit misleading because he has twice as many relays as others to run all his toys!!!
Well yes, the 2 on the right are the only stock relays.
Outer right one is indicators and the aluminium one is high beam dip.
Middle and left 2 are intermittent wiper and headlight upgrades.

Thanks guys. It is an L bug, curved screen and the vin apparently shows a 6 that someone in the know told me makes it a 76. Not being as familiar as the Penrose family, who am I to question it.
Finally got it out today,
will chase one up over the weekend.
Thanks guys
Give a vw dealer with a parts department a go. I was after a set of wheel bearings kits for my car (69 bug)and shopped around and was driving past a vw dealer and they had them in stock and were about half the price that the after market vw shops were telling me. That was a few years ago but you never know.
You would pay through the nose buying one from a stealership, when the quality generic ones work perfectly fine from somewhere like Autobahn and are
100x cheaper.
You just need the right pin layout for a Euro car which is positive on the right.
Joel, photos were a huge help, located it straight away (once I had time to look).
Autopro had a Hella one for $25 or could get a genuine for $84 on a very old price listing.
Put it just now and have working indicators.
Thanks for the advise guys, I will need more as the build progresses.
