Thinking about a Berg shifter and looking on their website it seems the cranked 12" or 14" 40% throw would be the go. Anyone run either of these? Are they worth the money?
Ive had a Berg, best money I have spent
I say yes they are worth the money to me.
I had a berg shifter many moons ago and ran it with a quick shift plate. Gear throws were about a quarter inch. It was awesome. My mechanic said it
was the tightest gearbox he'd ever driven and the box was stock.
I had a t-bar shifter and loved it. But now I am thinking of a CSP ball top shifter with butterfly lock out. Make sure you check them out as well.
If you try and order direct from the US make sure you get the RHD version if you get a t-bar.
Berg with ball knob instead of T bar of mine has been highly praised with friends I've let borrow it, got the bug tech in my project now. Unsure which one ill run when it's done, both are VERY short throw.
Curved 12 inch 60 % reduced throw is the go

Look through the samba for handle style and engraving options, send them one of the pictures of exactly which one you choose
I like the fingergrip handle I have at the moment

Berg all the way!
Love the Berg Shifter in the wifes beetle 60% shortened throw 12"..I love smashing gears with it and her 43 year old gearbox!..lol
Definately want to buy one for our 76 bay kombi too!.
Definitely worth the money.
They are quality bits of gear.
personally I prefer the ball to the T bar
Have a look at CSP and Vintage Speed as well
I am leaning towards the 12", extra bend, 40% throw. Not sure if anyone has the 14 inch version but I reakon my knuckles would be pretty close to the under dash area!! Car is used mostly on the street so 40% throw sounds nice.
The 14 will not be close to the dash as it has the extra bend too
Street with 60% will not cause you any difficulties . 40% is cool too tho. Exactly why there is many to choose from, get what you desire
60% all the way
I have in my race car a Berg 12 inch with 60% throw.
It has been in my car for over 14 years now, never had to adjust it or fix anything.
It gets a good thrashing at every race meet and still is as good as it was the day I installed it.
Cheers Col
