Hi Guys
I am rebuilding my front axel. I am at the point of putting back the torsion bars into the torsion tubes.
It is a ball joint front end. Replacement with adjusters.
I notice that there is a small grub screw that locates each torsion bar.
I dont know if this is normal - or if this is because of the adjusters.
However, when you tighten it up do you
1) Torque it (if so - how much)
2) Put a bit of Permatex Blue on it?

the original beam has a grub screw in the centre and either end (to hold in the torsion arms).
I never had one go loose. BUT ensure you put the locking nut on.
Screw the grub screw (hex drive) nice and firm, then thread the lock not over the top nice and tight
It should hold nice and firm.
Yes Chris but B/J is different. I tighten the grub screw as tight as possible without damaging the broched (allen key) hole.
Putting in the leaves, I install all the large leaves, then slide in the outer smaller ones individually, if they are awkward ie. not going in, a
small lead taper/bevel will help heaps.
