Window tinting...

Not really a tech question... but ive just pulled tinting off the windows that has been on there for +14yrs. Tint came off easy enough but the
tiniting glue is proving to be an issue.
Anybody got any tips for removing baked on +14yr tinting glue ??
Ive tried metho.. not much effect and turps just seems to smear it ..

Wax and grease remover apply then scrap

I find turps the best. it doesn't damage anything and wipes off that type of glue the best. depending on how old the glue is it may take some
persistents but I like the fact with turps it all goes into the rag. You need to have the rag damp (not soaking) with turps and go in a circular
motion with decent pressure.

if you can get ammonia that will sort you out. (most window cleaners today don't have ammonia in it like they used to)
Ammonia will turn the glue into a jelly like substance.
You'll need a brand new scraper blade for the clean up to get it off the glass.

I've only done it once and that was many years ago,I used eucalyptus oil, did the trick nicely.

Hi
I used Promar Maxi Di Clean, I tried all the other methods I don't sell Promar I had promotional bottle at the time.
I hate window tint, I like to see what going on beside me and in some traffic conditions you need too see other drivers faces and they see yours

I presume you have tried a razor blade..
Some tinting was very thin.. some was thicker..
EUCALYPTUS OIL is supposed to be very good but for something that old and hard and dried....
try to scrape off as much as You can with a razor blade then try Eucalyptus oil..
There is special stuff available now to take off glue etc off glass but whether its compatible with 14 year old glue?? I think its maybe for when You
take stickers off and the glue is still there and still soft and sticky..

3m adhesive cleaner, plastic scraper to remove the risk if scratching your glass, or if you're feeling confident... Steel wool, just avoid the
torn/cut edge touching, works well on train windscreens, gets EVERYTHING off

That is a good point. i can never see the person driving newer cars or tinted ones. And whats annoying is not being able to see trough cars to see
further ahead or passing cars when making a turn while another car is next to you.
i hate tint too. not to mention it makes cars look like toy matchbox cars with plastic black windows

You guys do know that you can get different shades of tint.....
