5.5 BRM tyre sizes
oldturtle22 - January 7th, 2014 at 09:10 PM

Gday,
Ive got a 59 beetle and would like to know what tyre sizes are being run on your beetles with 15 x 5.5 in BRMS?

I'd like to run lower profile tyres if possible

cheers Chris

Physical fit would be anything from stock 165/80R15 (which is definately the skinniest) all the way out to 215/60R15 (which is definately the widest I think).

If you still have swing axle, then perhaps go a bit (only 10% or so) bigger on the back to help alleviate the oversteer slightly when rolling off.

Personally (just me though, you make your own mind up), lower profiles I would choose 185/65R15 front and 205/65R15 rear, lots of tyre choices for those sizes, or for the same all round I'd plonk for 195/65R15.

Hey Chris,

For a 5.5 inch rim: a 175/60/15, it is the prefect width for a 5.5 inch rim - tyre wall height: 105mm
A 185/55/15 is also available, it wouldn't fit as snug as the 175, but it is a proper low profile tyre - tyre wall height: 102mm

Google has plenty of information :)
