Just wondering if there is anything special about the washer that goes with the big bolt that holds on the engine cradle.

Early bugs it was a wave washer, later bugs the ones with soft mounts used a spring washer

Just buy a high tensile washer plus a spring washer from your local nut n bolt shop. The wave washer was fairly thick and would have to come from a VW vendor, if they still make em that is
