Jumping out of reverse...
Indi - April 22nd, 2014 at 07:32 PM

Hi.. just wondering if anyone can help.

I have an IRS box in a buggy that is jumping out of reverse, and I was wondering if it is better to swap it over or get it fixed?

Cheers, Jon

depends

Getting it fixed will cost a bit

If the gearbox is a keeper - then get it fixed properly.
If it is just something in a buggy, pick up another one for $200 - $300 and move on

Thanks - I think I might look at a change over at this stage.. as It will be the most economical option..

The reverse gear is by far the easiest to replace, does not need any special gearbox jig to re-set the shifting forks. Just slide the old gear out, and the new gear in. (the fork is probably worn too) You could probably just flip the gear and use the other side if you had to. Just did a reverse gear repair on my box. http://www.bennvenn.com/Gearbox.html

Thanks BennVenn..

I have already changed the gear box over - However I'll keep it in mind if it happens again.
