Can anyone help me with my early 60 Beetle semaphore indicator ,like many of us over 50s my left indicator will not raise up that last inch (25mm). All advice appreciated.
Remove from the car remove the lens plastic, bulb
give a good wash out in petrol or kero open the arm when washing to remove dirt from the solinoid rod
blow off with air scrap the gunk of the electrical terminal
you can coat the coil with a laquer if you want
Thanks for that I will give it a go this weekend. Fingers crossed
OK Did all that and I have a lovely clean semaphore that still stops a little short of the mark (same as before clean). Is there any thing else I could try?
check all the terminal contacts and make sure you have a good charged battery
especially check the earth points on the car

right one works fine so the problem is only with the left one.

OK I finally fixed the semaphore. I decided to swap over left indicator with the right one ,while they were both out I compared the two even though
they were different models (C and E after numbers) they are very similar . The problem was that someone had done a dodgy repair using a split pin at
the connection at the top of the cylinder and link to the indicator physically stopping the piston mech from going all the way down. I replaced this
with a small section of a pop rivet shaft slightly flattened at one end put them back and bingo they are both going up all the way. No Viagra required
but one happy veedubber regardless.
Thanks All
