Fuel tank sender in my 76 beetle
Lateral - May 29th, 2014 at 03:48 PM

Hi guys,

Can anybody tell me what type of fuel gauge sender I have in my 76 beetle? Is it the float attached to an "arm" or is it a tubular type of sender?

Thanks for any help.

Regards
Greg

Greg from memory the sender will be a double float and arm unit.

Thanks mate

Do you know what the ohm range is?

Is it 0-90 ohms or 10-180?

Regards
Greg

The '76 beetle should be a single float attached to an offset arm, if our two were typical. The one in a vertical tube arrangement was for the type 3 (late type 3 anyway).
Our remaining Definitely original as-fitted 1976 one has:

"37/8 VW 5.76" and
"113919049D" stamped into the inner side of it.

On the outside it just says: "VDO Made in Germany G 003".

(No mention of ohms-range, but maybe that is stamped on rear of the gauge?)
