I am looking at replacing the shocks on my standard height/stock 1965 beetle. Has anyone used EMPI Oil shocks, or what shocks are best used.
I am keeping the beetle totally stock and just want to have a nice smooth ride. i have heard some people put oil shocks and the front and use gas on
the back due to all the weight being there.
VeeDubbers thoughts on this matter.
Cheers
Clem
Forget Empi, buy German Bilstein shocks

Basically any gas shock will be to hard for a standard application, you would be better of with a good quality set of oil shocks like boge, koni or
ZF.

buy the best you can afford mate. these are what keep your tires on the road.
ive used boge and the gas ones, id got the boge over the gas any day. its what came from factory on there.
Thanks for all the advice and I am going with a set of oils (not EMPI). Checked out both sites and Aussie Just-Kampers seems to be the easiest
(shipping etc) for me. They have ZF & Boge.
The current shocks feel rough on the road so I am thinking they might be gas shocks, or stuffed.
