Hi all, I've picked up a good 2nd hand 1600 single port, looking to break it down and (check how good it really is) and rebuild it with some new
bits.
I have been considering a few options, one of which was the 1776 volkspower engine kit. Does anyone have experience with these?
I know there is an awful lot to consider in engine building, and the endless variables. So initially I am just after feedback on these scat kits and
whether they are any good.
I would love to go and see one of the legendary engine builders with $10k in my pocket, but that's not possible at the moment. I can spend maybe
$2k. And have plenty of time to put together my weekend warrior beetle.
Appreciate the thoughts of the wise heads on here.
I purchased a 2027 volkstroker III forged kiit with a C25 cam for my dual cab kombi. I can say is the kit is hi end and everything is finished nice,
went together sweet but DO NOT use his shipping method. DB SCHENKER absoulutely screwed me with freight and customs and then charged me holding time
at dock because they said I wasn't able to be contacted. That was a crock of shit!. In the end the freight cost almost as much as the kit!!!. Buy it
in parts under $1k a tax invoice total (i think, someone out there can correct me with the amount you are able to slip under the radar). I think also
the way he invoiced me he included freight which DB and customs classed as total cost not freight + goods and slugged me. all I know is I got royally
screwed and had to pay to recieve the goods or they would of gone back to SCAT.
I would buy the kit again but I would not buy direct from SCAT enterprises, try aircooled.net or someone like that.
good luck with your venture and just make sure you get freight sorted out before anything else.
Thanks binner, I'm still doing the costings, and planning, I'll keep an eye out for DBShenker and try to keep the orders under $1k
Keep cost and shipping combined under 1000.
