Hi guys, just a few quick q's for the carby guys, I have a chance to buy some original 40mm idf webers, which I think would wake up my 1916 kad fed
buggy motor. Anyone got some suggestions on what they are worth? Have been sitting for a number of years so will need kits and a clean bare minimum,
but have filters linkages and manifolds.
Would the kads suit a 1600 dp motor with a mild cam? This is the motor going in my bosses karmann ghia. Cheers for your advice guys.
Kads will work fine on a 1600 mate.
As for price I never know in Oz as I come from the UK and things are way cheaper there.
It depends on what the webers are like , are they genuine webers , what jets, emulsions and venturies do they have , how good are the shafts etc etc , be careful as a supposed set of cheap webers with all the wrong jetting and venturies can certainly turn expensive pretty quick
Thanks for the replies guys, they are a mates so I have a chance to go right over them before I buy and look for corrosion shaft play etc, will post up jets and emulsion sizes and see if they will suit. Parts seem to be readily available still hey?
Eurocarb in the UK will give you jetting advice by email and they are pretty spot on most the time
Cool Ill check them out, thanks.
Make sure you get a decent linkage as well. CSP, Berg
Stay away from aluminium hex bar.
Look up Aircooled.Net carb articles in tech section
Hex ones no good mate? I have seen them all the time and just assumed they were good, I did get a Csp one for my kads which is great but I neglected to get a bellcrank one which is really what I wanted... It is still pot loads better than the original one though. Cheers mate.
Aluminium hex wears where the ball sits. Some have steel inserts to stop this
Steel not too bad.
CSP and Berg better
