I think the problem you will run into is the up and down nature of your plumbing after shut down you will have pooling at the lowest point resulting in start up trouble.

I made this mistake in a kombi years ago, having to carry a small blow torch to heat the low area to enable starting when cold.

Rayjay also ran into this problem with there kits (had one of those too) having a petcock at the low point so you can drain the pooling.

After messing with carbs for awhile I changed to injection and I can tell you for a road car injection is the way to go if you have your heart set on a turbo

Try looking for a Renault 5 Turbo carb, turbo and fuel pump. Been used quite successfully on less than 1700 VW flat4s :)

It's a pressure sealed carb so all you need do is plumb up from the turbo to the carb :D

Bit searching using Google UK should find you the bits you need as don't think the R5T was a popular option in Oz.

hi, thanks for your thoughts and ideas. if i did go turbo it would be a 2387cc so i dont think the renault set up is suitable. i like the simplicity of the draw thru carb set up , but it seems not such a great idea having the turbo inside near the alternator. especially in qld. the injection is a good idea except for the costs, and after its all set up its more costs in getting it tuned. and im not that savy with comps and doing it myself. stuck between a rock and a hard place and not sure of any other options. but i do like the idea of a turbo. if you have any more input , please do. thanks greg

Ask Vlad on here about delco engine management. He says it's very cheap n plenty of support.
most rolling roads seem to only like playing with certain expensive aftermarket stuff it seems. Poor show really.

hi ian, i like the simplicity of the setup, but how would u keep it cool enough to be a streeter with that turbo inside the compartment. i asked that question on the link. hopefully i get an answer

I thiink another very important question that is never asked and should be the first one asked is how much gearbox can i afford from dave buttler?Cause if ya ain't spending a serious bit of coin on a box your wasting your time.As for your post oil drain back may be an issue. As for the renault carb don't assume cause it's off a 1700 and you want to put it on a 2300 plus cc vw it's to small, those renauls can see an honest 250hp so it'll only be a problem if you plan on making more than 250hp.Oh an e85 you'll be running real cool!

hi col, i already got trans that handle it easy, ratios a bit short, so just need stickty tyres. and dave can do them in his sleep, he only charges half as much when he is sleeping. i like more than 250 otherwise may as well stay naturally aspirated. so u reckon even with the turbo in the engine bay e85 will keep it cool enough to be a reasonable streeter. thanks greg

just a thought have you looked at a vortec supercharger it a bit old school but it may be what you need if you want decklid shut no heat streeter. The vortec is the intake side of a turbo with a gearbox where the exhaust housing would be and belt driven, and on e85 you could run quite a lot of boost and not need an intercooler.
