Has anyone tried to use a LHD Wiring Harness in RHD vehicle. The prices they charge for a harness in the US makes it tempting to give it a try, I realise some wires will be too short and others too long , but is it still worth it?
Yes,easy to do. I used one in my Oval. Only had to lengthen the 3 wires at the head light dip switch and shorten the ones for the speedo(gen and oil light) It was nearly 10 years ago, but I remember it being real easy. From memory the speedo and dip switch are the only 2 things that are in a different position between LH and RH drive. I used the og wires from the old loom for the 3 wires I extended .

Exactly, lenghtening all the wires to the fuse box, steering column and speedo in a 12 volt bug is a shit load of wires.

I brought one for my 68 and never used it. Rewired it all using mainly 7core trailer wire. Ran an industrial data cable for gauges and a heavy main power wire.
Its to go in a 61 ghia , converting to 12v . I still have old loom but would like to update as body off and in primmer so thought it a good time.
What is the condition of the old loom?
Replacement may be a downgrade.
