bevelhead - March 5th, 2015 at 05:07 PM

Hi just wondering if anyone has installed a euro style indicator dimmer switch to their early beetle, i need a switch and thought i would get rid of the floor dipper while i was at it.
This was the most reasonable price supposed german made switch i could find, anyone see any problems? or know if anyone can supply this in oz?

is this an actual dipper switch or do you need the tripping relay with it,the Ghias used a similar switch and relay that flashed high beam when operated.

I reckon you would need a relay with it, i thought about a micro switch on a standard oz bug indicator but the factory looks like they have more or less done this with this switch

I have them in both my early Ghia and beetle, both are 12 volts, just use the over centre relay that comes out of the 68 on 12 volt cars., I even managed to pick up a NOS indicator arm on fleabay for $30.00. they come out of a one year only 67 US model beetle and some early type threes. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BEETLE-Indicator-arm-66-67-German-Black-/360849868294  be carefull of the reproductions as they are crap in the high beam switch.
