Beetle track widths
vduboy - March 19th, 2015 at 08:44 PM

Hi guys, does anyone have the definitive specs on the track widths front and rear for a semi auto beetle 1970 model? (Ball joint/Irs) I need to provide them to the engineer, but have found so many different specs like the usa's with the 4 1/2" wheels etc instead of the 4's that are on my car. Thanks in advance!

I think the front is around 1328mm? The rear I am guessing at 1352? But I've since fit a a/m disc kit to the rear, so that will be different.:fakesniff:

My Beetle and Bus both have the factory track in the owners manual

Haven't got a owners manual mate, got a factory workshop but it has nothing on the rear track, my front measurement is close but just wanted to confirm.

From the 1970 owners manual.
That is US spec which is IRS same as yours.

That's standard beetle Steve,
3 bolt supers are 1379mm front and 1352mm rear according to VW

Awesome thanks heaps for that Joel! I have the genuine workshop manual for mine and it lists the front track as 1322mm, which is pretty close to mine with my toe in/out string lined as close as I can get it without a proper alignment.
The rear I had no idea on as I forgot to measure it before I pulled it apart a year or so ago! And this manual has no specs at all for the rear track.
Good news is I figured out all my offsets correctly and I have legal track front and rear! :tu:
