I was still a bit asleep when I was pumping petrol into my VW vintage Beetle in the morning.
Usually the petrol pump will cut off early so I wasn't paying attention but to my horror it overfilled and probably 1 litre of petrol spilled into
the front bonnet area.
I cleaned up most of the spill using the gas station tissue paper.
I went home and used warm soapy water to clean up the surface.
Thankfully the front bay of my VW bug is not carpeted - just painted metal.
However after I cleaned everything up and drove it up my garage - I found to my horror petrol leaking out from underneath the floorpan - the right
side. WTF?
I hosed it down with water - I think the petrol got trapped in the front floorpan section?
Was hosing it underneath with the water hose the right thing to do? Whats the best way to clean up a petrol spill?
Match..
Nah bugmaniaar .... thats only for Magnas and Excels
Get a syphon hose and suck some fuel out of the tank to below the filler neck,the vent tube runs down and out there. Water is not a good idea as it spreads the fuel,what you need is to mop it up with cloth and then clean with a detergent based cleaner and then wash it off.
gota love those petrol station auto stop fillers. Never fucking works.
Always spill fuel on my car as it doesn't click off when its full and sprays fuel out like geyser. Its like this 100% of the time unless I have my
ear close to the filler and listen for the fuel coming up the filler and stop before it sprays out, but I dont want a face full of fuel haha so I just
let it spill out.
I wonder why they don't work for me?
